ClampOn Subsea Particle Monitor

Titanium subsea sand monitor rated to 3,048 m, with onboard sand calculation and ROV-retrievable funnels.
  • Supplied across Indonesia
  • Technical support & sizing
  • Delivery to site, onshore & offshore

On a subsea well, every grain of sand you do not see can cost a choke, a jumper or a shutdown. The ClampOn Subsea Particle Monitor is a subsea sand monitor that measures produced sand in real time, so you can keep the well at its best safe rate.

According to ClampOn, its instruments run on thousands of wells every day, and the company is the largest supplier of sand monitoring systems worldwide. PT Saka Nusa Persada supplies the Subsea Particle Monitor and the matching subsea funnels in Indonesia as a ClampOn distributor. You can also read more at ClampOn.

How the Subsea Sand Monitor Works

The sensor sits just downstream of a bend, where the turbulent flow profile is fully developed. There, particles hit the inside of the pipe wall and create an ultrasonic signal. Onboard DSP analyzes that signal at 1 Hz, and the result travels through the Subsea Electronics Module to your topside control system. Moreover, the instrument can calculate sand rate internally, so no topside processing is needed.

Built for Deepwater Service

  • One-atmosphere electronics chamber, so the electronics never see sea pressure.
  • Electron-beam welded titanium body, so there are no gaskets or mechanical seals.
  • Glass-metal penetrator, as well as optional redundant electronics.
  • Rated to 3,048 m water depth, and moreover designed for a 25-year lifetime (220,000 hours MTBF).
  • ROV deployable and retrievable, therefore retrofit and service work need no diver.

Subsea Funnels for Every Layout

ClampOn designs its carbon steel funnels in-house for the most common pipe sizes, and it can engineer others on request. The Standard funnel suits most jobs, including insulated pipe. The Bulkhead funnel allows cable entry from the top, while the Bend funnel mounts directly on a bend. Finally, an ROV can install the Retrofit funnel on lines that have no funnel yet.
