Sand erodes chokes, bends and valves long before it shows up in the separator. A ClampOn DSP Particle Monitor works as a real-time sand monitor, so you can produce at the highest rate your wells can safely handle.
PT Saka Nusa Persada supplies the ClampOn DSP Particle Monitor across Indonesia as a ClampOn distributor. The instrument clamps to the outside of the flowline, so it never touches the process. You can also read more at ClampOn.

How the ClampOn Sand Monitor Works
Sand particles hit the inside of the pipe wall just after a bend. Each impact creates an ultrasonic signal, and a piezoelectric transducer picks it up. Then, Digital Signal Processing (DSP) inside the instrument filters out flow noise and reports the particle signal in real time. When you configure the SandQ+ algorithm, the monitor can even report sand rate in g/s.
What Operators Use It For
- Finding the maximum sand-free rate, so each well produces as much as it safely can.
- Setting a maximum acceptable sand rate, because some sand is tolerable but erosion is not.
- Sand event alarms, for example when a well suddenly starts producing sand.
- Well testing and optimization, as well as long-term sand management.
Key Advantages of This Sand Monitor
- Non-intrusive: the sensor clamps or welds to the pipe surface, so there is no hole and no leak path.
- High sensitivity: it detects particles down to 25 µm in oil and 15 µm in gas.
- Factory calibrated: therefore, commissioning on site stays short.
- Long life: in fact, ClampOn rates the Ex d version for a 30-year design life.
- Vibration option: a built-in 3-axis accelerometer can also report pipe vibration.

For subsea wells, choose the ClampOn Subsea Particle Monitor. For remote onshore sites without cabling, the BIRD wireless particle monitor is the better fit. In addition, the ClampOn CEM measures the wall loss that sand erosion leaves behind.
